Welcome back, friend. It's great to see you here at The Space Bar again.
Today, we’re talking about collectible avatars.
This metaverse thing is going to be a pretty big deal, and we are definitely going to need avatars to represent ourselves as we drink and philosophize together. Don’t you think?
The idea of The Bar Bots was born in the summer of 2021, when The Bored Apes, and Beeple’s staggering sales blew the lid off the speculative collectible NFT Art world. For us Bar Bots, one line in particular — The VOID, or The Visitors of Imma Degan, launched a collectible line that was a little different from all the rest. The VOID launched collectible 3d avatars.
For most of the collections in the decentralized world, the value came from the traits and the speculative rarity. For the VOID, you could buy the asset, download the asset and … get this… own the IP rights.
In the human world, this challenges so many ideas that exist in entertainment. Disney owns Mickey Mouse. Warner Brothers own Batman. But for a line to release an asset, and grant commercial rights to its holders, is a forward-thinking idea that points to an open metaverse.
Since 2021, the VOIDs market value has fluctuated. However, the creativity that has been unleashed within the VOID community is unmeasurable. Collectors have used their VOID in virtual reality, open world platforms, and have prototyped facial and full-body animation capture. Giving the rights to the community inspires others to create and own what they do.
Since the VOID, new lines of 3d collectible characters have launched. The Dead Army Skeleton Klub, or DASK, and the recently launched A Kid Called Beast, or AKCB, have illustrated this phenomenon can continue to work. Communities need an avatar to represent themselves in the virtual world, and the philosophy of a brand providing the asset AND THE IP leads to new forms of creative exploration.
Here at The Space Bar, we Bar Bots think there needs to be a way for us to drink together and share ideas together. Inspired by lines like the VOID, DASK and AKCB, we see The Bar Bots as the Happy Hour proliferating 3d avatars of the open metaverse.
We think that if you buy something, you should get something. And owning that something means you can make things with it. It’s a little weird to get your head around, but it’s one that we think is at the core of creativity in the virtual world.
At The Spacebar, we serve 3d collectibles. If you are in the metaverse — you gotta drink — And so, The Bar Bots.
So cheers to the VOID and all of the other 3D avatars out there. You will always have VIP status here, at The Space Bar.
We’ll see you next time.

Network Update
This week, check out the Generic Bar Bot run cycle update by JoBeHa.
Want to animate your own Bar Bot?
Leave your Solana wallet address and grab yourself a generic rig at https://barbots.io
This week’s recommendation is: The Misfit
Dive2Fancy: Fancy-ish
DrinkPrice: LA Baby
Atmosphere: Crowded
Boasting one of the “Best Happy Hours in Los Angeles,” we Bar Bots can’t help but love the Misfit bar. After shopping Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade, leave the beaten path and order yourself a bartender’s feature with an “appetizer delish.”
Drinks might be LA prices, but the food is worth it, the drinks are right on…. and humans listen up, the beach is across the street. Make it a must-visit.
Visit their website for information.
That’s it for this week! Please subscribe and metaverse responsibly.
wooo - look at that run cycle. hot stuff!
